A Slender Wine Has been produced that its states has no calories.  The Slender Wine it uses a zero calorie natural sweetener to produce the Alcohol. Slender Wine is also in the Oscars gift bag this year and also at one Academy Awards party.

Truth is the main calories in wine ARE from the alcohol. A dry wine containing 15 percent alcohol will have approximately 150 calories per five ounces. So, while sugar (1 gram =4 calories) will add calories, the majority always comes from the alcohol itself.

The Chateau Thomas Winery website keeps quiet about the calorie content of their Slender wine. They do not state it is calorie free, instead they promote the fact it is naturally sweetened. It advertises Slender Wine as:

No Sugar, No Carbs, No Fats, No After-taste, No Kidding!

I will agree it is a better choice for people who need (or want) to cut sugar out of their diet, but I wish they made it more clear that only the sweetener is calorie free: not the wine. And it would be nice if before articles write it up as calorie free they might check out that little fact first!
